Commercial Account Executive
Kim’s father worked in the Insurance Industry for many years, and she was always in awe of his knowledge and dedication to his customers. In 1986 Kim decided to follow in his footsteps and began her insurance career as a student working at her family firm with duties such as filing, mail and answering telephones. In 1988 she attended Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in Hamilton in the Insurance & Business Administration Program. After graduation, Kim returned to Sturgeon Falls and obtained her RIBO license. Her first position as a licensed broker in 1990 was at Sturgeon Falls Insurance Brokers specializing in personal lines insurance.
Kim began working for Rivet Insurance Brokers in the summer of 2016 after moving back to her home town of Sturgeon Falls. Kim’s current role is commercial account manager, working on insurance programs for the Resort Industry, Home Hardware Stores, Garage, Auto and RV Dealers. She also works with contractors, profit and non profit organizations, professionals, clients with environmental exposures, bond requirements, and insureds from many other industries.
In 1992 Kim had the opportunity to work at Gougeon Insurance as a Risk Manager & Claims Specialist for McDonalds Restaurant in Eastern Canada. During this time, Kim learned a great deal on identifying and minimizing potential insurance losses. In 1995 she took a position with Raymond Insurance in Sudbury as a commercial account manager. In her 20 years at Raymond Insurance she worked as an assistant to one of the senior partners, and had the opportunity to assist most of the producers and absorb the knowledge the senior staff had to offer. Kim worked on many large accounts for contractors, non profit organizations, the mining industry, the garage auto industry, international equipment dealers, bonds, auto insurance, fleet insurance and many other types of businesses.
Kim wants to give her customers the peace of mind that comes with knowing they are well insured; thus allowing them to focus on their business and not worry if they have a claim. Having a claim can be difficult for everyone, the loss of property, being sued, the fear of financially losing everything her clients have worked hard for. Kim strives to make this time as easy as possible; making sure her customers are well protected by insurance.
Kim has a keen eye for detail. She will meticulously review a clients insurance portfolio to ensure the insured has the best coverage available. Kim believes that even though an insurance risk may be difficult to place; she will get the job done for her client! Kim continues to broaden her knowledge by taking seminars on new insurance products and taking classes with the Insurance Institute of Canada. She would like to eventually get her CIP designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada.
Kim is very proud of her family. She has 2 beautiful children and a very supportive husband. When she is not in the office she enjoys spending time with the family, playing board games, swimming, traveling … especially going to Disney World! To relax Kim likes to sit by the pool and soak up the sun. She also enjoys scrapbooking. Kim recently moved back to Sturgeon Falls to be close to her family and to raise her kids in a small, close knit community.
